Biography

I grew up on the Caribbean island of Dominica, the first of four amazing siblings including a twin sister! I went to school in Dominica. When I graduated high school, I attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where I obtained my BA in Legal Studies. At UMass, I served as a Resident Assistant, gaining communication and collaboration skills and working with my peers in this diverse campus community. I was also a Teaching Assistant and balanced my academic workload, work-study job, and serving as a peer leader for incoming Freshman classes.

 

A few years after graduation I started my family and I have two exceptional young adult children. I'm currently an educator in the Natick Public Schools where I also was the Middle School Track Coach. Some of the things I enjoy are spending time with my family, arts and culture,  running, museums, meeting new people, trying different restaurants, photography, dance, and yoga. I've been called a "serial volunteer" but what I'm proudest of is being called Mom, Mum, Mummy, Mommy. 

 

I am also an avid runner. I've run six consecutive Boston Marathons from 2016-2021, raising almost $30,000 in six years for four non-profit organizations in Framingham including the Boys & Girls Club,  Framingham High School Foundation, Resiliency for Life at Framingham High School, and Hoops and Homework. I also had the distinct honor of running the 2017 Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC, and raised funds for injured Marines. My most cherished memory of my Marathon journey was running three Boston Marathons with my daughter in 2019, 2020, and 2021 for Team Framingham.

 

I credit my love for volunteerism to my wonderful  Mum, Mom, Mommy, Mummy who earned the second-highest volunteer award in my homeland of Dominica.

• Chair Executive, Director Search Committee for Downtown Framingham Inc.

• Executive Director Search Committee for Framingham History Center 

• Member of  Keep Framingham Beautiful 

• Former Vice-Chair, Framingham Cultural Council

• Former Member, Team Framingham for the Boston Marathon

One of the things I'm most proud of was coming from a different country as a young woman and where I am today. I always say I'm in a unique place in that all my childhood has been in Dominica and all my adult life has been in America. I understand what it is to come to another country, which many Framingham residents also experienced.

 

I look forward to continuing working for our District 8 as a new diverse face and voice on the Framingham City Council showing the promise of the Framingham Charter. I’ll bring my willingness to listen, leadership, skills, abundance of energy, my lived experience, and love for Framingham to work as your City Councilor for our District 8.
